Puncak, Indonesia - July 6 - 9, 2004 Took the 'Pakuan' express train from Jakarta's Gambir station to Bogor (45 min; 10,000 RP to and 8,000 fro), 'mini-bus' (Colt van with longitudinal bench on each side) to bus terminal (15 min; 2,000 RP) and another Colt to Puncak Pass (1 hr; 10,000 RP). The rides were rough but swift, owing to the narrowness of the vehicle, ideal for manouvering past larger vehicles, even on the side-walks! Stayed at one of 4 Wisma Pertamina Villas (240,000 RP/day with breakfast; modest furnishing, 2 bedrooms, with bathroom and 2 beds each, clean linen, colour TV, living, dining, kitchen, verandah, garage and garden), private roads and pathways amidst quiet & calming mountain setting. The access is beside the road-side Mutiara Hotel. An ideal location for shoots is Puncak Pass where the famous Rindu Alam restaurant is. This has a commanding view of the tea garden. On the day I visited, the mist came down from the hill and engulfed the road and slopes with spectacular whiteness. |
