Blue was grabbed by a bocat in July 2001. Apparently, he just grabbed her left wing and dragged her away from the pond about 50 yards before we were able to scare him off. Blue had a small wound where her wing joins the body behind the neck. She had a tiny wound under her wing. We kept her indoors for 2 weeks with her wing wrapped in place but she was unhappy and would not eat. Thus, we let her go out with her pals after this short time. Her wing droops and for 2.5 months she was unable to move it. She could not even flap the good wing since this would hurt the bad one. In late October she began doing some stretching and is now able to flap her good wing and stretch the bad one a bit. She seems happy again and has gained her weight back.
