I mounted the piece to 1/4" plywood and used seuede flocking for the field. I made the black walnut frame with a deep enough dado to allow the panel to move. My best blade is on my 14" table saw, so I made a mitre sled to cut the frame mitres. A nice, neat job. I cut some 1/8" battens to support the mitre joints on the back to reinforce the glued end grains of the mitres. The finished size is 22.75" square
