Lips 5

Photo Comments
My Shepherd Kia has just developed the same symptoms, she is eating out of a plastic bowl at present, so will change that and see if it improves. Thanks for the photos, it helps to be able to identify what your own dog has as it is exactly the same. Thanks, Claire.

Thanks for posting these pictures. We have a 6 month old GSD. He has the exact mouth issues as pictured above. The vet's closed for the weekend and I was begining to really worry I should bring him to the dog hospital. He's a big chewer so I am assuming he's developed an infection of the mouth.

(even more ...) it was a long course of antibiotics. He has just one more day, but it is completely gone. It was really nasty looking. It's important to finish all the antibiotics. My best to everyone!

(cont) .. We scrubbed 2 - 3 times a day (he was also given a pain killer ) and we are happy to report that within three to four weeks we saw a noticeable improvement. It has completely disappeared.

We did take our German Shepherd to the vet. She suggested it was an infection he picked up from chewing something he shouldn't have. He isn't a chewer, but you never know when you are out walking them. The doc put him on a long course of antibiotics and a special wash.

Wow! This is exactly what I am taking my German Shepherd to the vet for. His name is Rico ... Did you ever find out what this was? Thank you.

(cont from below)...Now, she has pimple type swelling dotted all over her body. Some are bleeding a little and some are scabby. She's also got one on her eyelid. I am not sure if this is the same skin condition as what's discussed here. Has anyone else experienced this?

My GSD also has this problem. She's 4 yrs old and we live in a hot climate. I thought maybe it was the heat or even just the rusted gate she was leaning on; however, it seems like it occurs anywhere. It has occurred twice on her and the second time i just let it be and it seemed to go away by itself

Ok, we were on vacation when this happened to our dog and I was using a plastic "tupperware style" bowl for his water bowl...once I switched back to Stainless Steel, the symptoms went away quickly. My vet said something about bacteria and the plastic together may have caused it.

My 7 yr. old GSD has the very same thing, same side of his mouth and he doesn't have any "drugs" on his coat. He does have documented allergies. When he had a 2 day large dose of steroids, the swelling went way down. It stabilized but is still present and is now going on 3 1/2 weeks.
