Ratliff Porch
Do you see the new wood, on the top of the handrail? This single “grip-able” piece of treated lumber is required in Richland County inspections. All Pro Improvements FORGOT this hand rail addition, and for this the porch did not pass the final inspection, until this “grip-able” handrail addition was added. All work by All Pro Improvements is done with permits and the associated inspections, as is required by the various municipalities where we work! Each county, town, city, has their own permitting and zoning. Each of these has a different “interpretation” on the code books. This grip-able hand rail is normally restricted to commercial locations, instead of residential homes, in most municipalities. As difficult as it can be, to know just what is required in each municipality, it is the contractor’s job to be sure that the construction meets to that standard! All Pro Improvements was aware that this “grip-able” handrail is required in Richland County, and this was an oversight on our part. We made this correction, and everyone was happy!
