Swiss dots again? Yup, they're about the in-est thing on cakes right now. This cake was for one of my bestest and sweetest brides ever--Kristen who is celebrating her union with her new hubby tonight at Riverplace Country Club, one of my favorite venues in or around Austin. The cake sells for $2/serving and just about everyone goes 'YUMMMMMMMYYYY!' It's the classic French Vanilla with a hint of lemon and almond, but Kristen opted to leave out the raspberry filling and just use icing. Austin Cake Lady did NOT do the flowers, and they were a classic example of bad things that can happen with a florist who isn't experienced with doing cakes. The topper flowers were stuck into wet soggy green floral foam with absolutely nothing under it to catch the drippings--a floral no-no number 101! When you're looking for a florist, we'll help you to FIND people who know how to do cake flowers so that a disaster can't happen to your wedding cake. Melanie and I finally managed to 'waterproof' the arrangement so it wouldn't drip, and we were finally able to use it and avoid a cake disaster. Thank you, God! We don't like crises!
