Episode Two: Rileylocks and The Three Bears

What was going on? Moments ago Riley had been safe and warm in the arms of her dear Granny and now she was in the middle of a strange forest. The sun shone brightly and she could hear the sounds of birds in the trees. “Very strange!!!” whispered Riley, and then called for Granny. “Gra-a-a-a-ny! Where are you?” There was no reply….not even an echo. Riley looked around her and found a path. She decided that the only thing to do was to follow it. Soon she found herself in a small clearing and could see, in the distance, a tiny cottage with smoke curling out of the chimney. “ I bet Granny is hiding on me,” she exclaimed and started towards the cottage. “Gra-a-a-any. I’m going to FIND you!!!!” By this time she had broken into a run.

She arrived at the cottage to find the door open and a table set for three, but there was no Granny. In fact there was no one there at all. “Granny? I can smell your porridge!! Come out and pway!” Still, there was only the sound of quiet. She looked around the room and a feeling of familiarity welcomed her like an old friend. Could it be? Yes, indeed! That was it. She was in the cottage of The Three Bears. Granny had been telling her the story and now she was really here. She looked over at the table and her curiosity took charge. She HAD to find out if Papa Bear’s porridge really was too hot. She picked up the spoon and had a taste. It was good, but it WAS quite hot. She skipped over Mama Bear’s porridge, which had no steam coming from it at all, and went for the third bowl, which was “ju-u-u-u-u-st right!” and ate it all up…..well, no. She was GOING to eat it all up and then remembered how Baby Bear cried when all of his porridge was gone. Then she looked over at the chairs. Would Baby Bear’s chair really break to pieces if she sat in it? She saw Papa Bear’s chair and how fun it looked to climb up on so she did just that. Next came Mama Bear’s soft, beanbag chair that was just so cozy. And last, she looked at Baby Bear’s pride and joy and wondered if it really would break if she sat in it. Carefully, she eased herself into the chair, hardly daring to breathe. She did it! It didn’t break, but she could tell that it was wobbly and could break if she wasn’t “Very, very careful”. Suddenly, a sound erupted from the other room. It was a sound like none she had ever heard and she took cover in the kitchen cupboard.
