Drilling a hole in glass
An easy method making a hole in glass is by using a drill motor, Dremel or similar tool. You need a diamond core bit. Take a small container large enough to hold your glass and put in a sponge and water. Put your glass on top of the sponge and hold it steady. The glass should be covered with water. SAFETY is a must. If you have a cordless tool, it would be safer but this can be done safely with an electrical tool if you take the right precautions. Make sure that your hand that is holding the drill is completely dry. Only the lower 1/2” or less of the drill bit should go into the water. Also don’t have the hand holding the glass too close to the drill bit. Turn on your drill and lower onto the glass. Let the weight of the drill guide the bit into the glass. Don’t force it or the glass will break. You will feel and hear the difference when the bit is through the glass. You could also use a drill press with your Dremel or a stack of books the right height to steady your hand holding the drill. Practice on scrap glass before attempting to drill a hole in your project. It isn’t as hard as you think.
