INSTRUCTION FROM A PROFESSIONAL!

Frederick County resident Mary Pfister has won national awards for her portraiture and still life painting. Mary is a charter member and former Maryland Ambassador for the Portrait Society of America, and a certified member of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters. She is a member of the Oil Painters of America and the Frederick County Art Association. She has attended master classes at the Art Student’s League and at private master classes throughout the country with such renowned artists as Daniel Greene, John Howard Sanden, Nelson Shanks, and Robert Bateman. Mary has taught classes in oil painting and portraiture at her instruction studio in Frederick, Maryland since 1992. She paints commissioned portraits full time. “I have wonderful memories of the early days of The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center. Prior to the gift of the current building to the city from George and Bettie, the Frederick County Art Association (FCAA) held its meetings and exhibits in many other locations. We met upstairs at the Antiques Emporium, at Thomas Johnson High School, a tiny shop on East Street. We scrubbed, painted, decorated and worked hard to host events in less than convenient locations. The opening of the building was an exciting event and FCAA was there from the beginning. Before it opened some of us toured the old building and envisioned all the wonderful things to come. And wonderful things did come! We are indebted to the generosity and support from the Delaplaine family. Thank you George and Bettie!”
