The New Ride

After the sale of the 32, well, actually before the 32 was sold, I picked up a new ride. It was originally built as a 1/8 mile race car. I don't do 1/8 mile, I like the 1/4 mile better, so a few changes had to be made. First was the change from 5.43 rear end gears, to a set of 4.86's. This will keep the engine from self destructing before it reaches the end of the 1/4 mile. All the wiring had to be changed. This car spent some time on the street, and in my opinion, it doesn't belong there. The switch panel was moved from over the drivers head on the roll cage, to a more user friendly spot on the trans tunnel in front of the shifter. A transmission brake was installed. I have been using Nitrous Oxide in my cars since 1984, and there is nothing that beats the "kick" and raw power this stuff gives you. This one came with a two stage set up in it, but you know me, I needed more. It had a total of 400 h.p. boost, I now have the ability to spray over 650. If you know how to use it, it won't hurt.

The 2004 season ended with a bang, or sorts. I blew up the 406 small block on the last race of the season. This gave me the opportunity to sit down and decide what to do for the 2005 season. The decision was made to change the car to run in the Outlaw 10.5 tire class. This will require a major upgrade to everything in the car. Check out the pictures and you'll get an idea as to what is being done. My son built a web site for the both of our cars. Check it out when you get done here. www.1960belair.com
