NRL Change of Command
In an email to me, Valerie describes this picture of her father: Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) Change of Command Ceremony. My father was the Commanding Officer of the NRL for 2 consecutive terms(Never before in history) Under his command there was 100% reinlistment, again, never before in history. This post was assigned by commission and was usually 2 years in duration. (150 Buildings comprised the Naval Research Laboratory) We were all present at this ceremony- My father received his Second Legion of Merit for his work at NRL. (the highest honor awarded to men in every branch of Service during Peace time). I have the document for this award framed and hanging on my living room wall.
