Gracie's Economical Carrier
A rubbermaid clear storage bin with chrome handles, and holes bored in the top became the most economical (under $10.00) and comfortable Macaw carrier! A hole drilled on the side near the bottom for a 6" grapvine perch, which only goes half way across so she can easily walk around the bottom of the carrier, lined with a rubber waffle rug for secure footing, even when newspaper is on top. The only drawback is that the lid is large, so if you have a difficult bird, it can easily hop out if not used to the carrier. I take the lid off and use it as a playpen filled with toys & treats next to her colorful table top perch.
