RENOIR & MATISSE
In Memory of Katie Atikian who was an avid copper collector and a dear Jewelcollect associate. Katie passed away on March 12, 2004. She will be sadly missed by those that were fortunate to know her. When we learned of Katie's serious illness many Jewelcollect members sent her butterfly pins to cheer her.

We hope her web site will remain. Below are the links to her fabulous jewelry.

Renoir of California began business in February of 1946 in Los Angeles, California. With humble beginnings, and their line of copper jewelry designs being laughed out of the May Company Department Store, Renoir gradually grew into a prosperous, successful jewelry design house, producing a minimum of 30 new designs per year! In the early 1950s, the company added enameled copper jewelry to their portfolio, which they produced under the name "Matisse." In the early 1960s, they experimented with designs in sterling silver and gold plate. The company went out of business in 1964, and today -- much to the great surprise and delight of the company's owners -- Renoir jewelry is extremely collectible.
