Following the Trains

Well, actually at the same time as the trains: the X-100 was also present at the Festival of Britain. Later, Emett machines appeared in various guises and locations, both for particular events and as permanent installations.

No photographs of the Hogmuddle Rotatory Niggler and Fidgeter (1953) have surfaced, nor the Emett Ideal Homes machine, or Hush-a-bye Bed, but research has paid off: at http://www.britishpathe.com/index.html a variety of films can be found showing these rare beasts. The preview quality films are free to download. The largest collection of Emetts in the UK are associated with: Town Centre Securities plc, Town Centre House, The Merrion Centre,Leeds LS2 8LY. (0532 459172) Some are usually on display, and they are advertised as being available for hire.
