Goliad County mural, now under restoration From Robert Marshall, conservator:
The Mural by a female depression artist by the name of "Jesson" is intact and was seen by me a few years ago when it was an RFP for its restoration was advertised by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. At that time it was at their offices in Austin. Since I was not low bid it was awarded someone else. Where it is now should be known by the staff at TXPWD. I believe that the mural to be
approximately 5 feet wide by 20 feet long. It needed to be relined and
placed on a new stretcher system otherwise in fair shape. I proposed an
aluminum honey comb system which was apparently too pricy but that is what
it needed to truly keep it safely mounted in a damp public setting. I recall it was to be hung in the Goliad Mission. Attached is a photo of it before treatment around 2010.
