Johnny Mac left Richmond on December the 29th 2008 around 6:00 AM on his Wing with the temperature around 24 degrees. He hooked up with Howard Ping from Somerset in Williamsburg and they rode to Cedar Key, Florida. There they hooked up with JB and Alice and other members of the International Brotherhood of Motorcycle Campers. Four nights of fun and geocaching around Cedar Key, then on to JB and Alices about 175 miles further south, in Palmetto for several more days.

They spent several days geocaching and visiting the local beach and Historical forts, then on to Evergades National Park to camp and then they took a overnight ride to Key West. Upon returning from Key West the weather began turning cold in KY, so he prolonged his stay. He decided to return to KY come Hell or High Water on January 21st.
