TREE DAMAGE

I have been asked by so many people for pictures of the tree damage we had here, in March, that I thought I would make an album. For those of you who have not heard about our ordeal I have added our story.

On March 4th we had an 80’ pine tree come down, during a storm, destroying our motorhome, in-ground pool, deck, antique Pen Yan boat, the roof of the keeping room, the garage roof and breaking the windows in our garage. The broken windows sprayed glass all over our car and scratched the paint! It was amazing that one tree could do so much damage. We later learned that 70 mile per hour winds were recorded the night the tree fell. The tree had a V trunk, first one side came down taking out the motorhome. We went outside (at 1:07 am) to look at the damage and after realizing that nothing could be done that night, we went back inside. A few minutes later, the second half of the tree came down on the deck and pool, right where we were standing! Mother Nature sure was angry that night! We are still cleaning up from the mess. So far the tree is gone, the motorhome was totaled and has been towed away, the windows have been replaced in the garage, the roof on the garage and keeping room have been replaced (we also had the rest of the house shingled so it all matched) and the car is off to be repainted. We have decided not to replace the pool because the insurance company killed us, instead we will just be replacing the deck. My husband has been busy redesigning it, something he is very good at so I know it will be beautiful when it is finished. It has been a long haul and it isn’t over yet, we just thank God that we have each other and that we were not hurt.
