My maternal relatives are from Germany, both grandmother & grandfather. We've traced our line all the way back to the 1700's.....to a small village called Steinmauern, located in southern Germany, near the French border. I've heard stories of the French throwing potatoes at my relatives across the Rhine river. :o)

My paternal relatives are from the southern United States. We've traced our line back to the late 1700's....to a great great great great grandfather named Moses Nichols, from North Carolina, born 1791. We've never been able to get any further. One of our researchers has been trying for 25 years to find more info but has never found anything more. We have alot of info on everyone up until Moses. Evidently, Moses and his wife Elizabeth moved to Tennessee shortly after marriage, as all of the descendants afterward lived in Tennessee.
