Rough Creek Pros: Fancy shooting stations. NSCA shoots are well run, highly organized & the staff were helpful & friendly. Course grounds are neat & tidy, cart paths are walkable & well done. Good use of natural terrain using high limestone cliffs instead of metal towers. One of the best thought out courses I have been too, no safety concerns on main course. Walkable main. Nice covered gathering area with restrooms, fireplace & kitchen. Lighted 5-stand. Cons: The course is part of a guest ranch so you must call in advance for reservations and you must shoot the course with a guide. Very pricey. The limestone rock permanent shooting stations can play havoc with an O/U as you have to be careful not to dent you barrels. Small NSCA shoots are a breeze here but a major like the US Open would be almost impossible due to it's location and terrain. A few of the pre-lim stations have some minor safety issues. |
