January 2008 Queen for the Day Madeline introduced us to Ethopian cuisine on January 12 at the elegant Queen of Sheba restaurant in Addison. Sixteen of our eighteen local members were in attendance, and we welcomed Bobbi as our guest. The majority of us tried the Ethopian food, which was eaten by tearing off pieces of the special sourdough bread and wrapping it around pieces of meat and vegetables. The food was delicious, and it was a most unique experience we were glad to have had. After the meal, Madeline and Sharon sang a parody of My Favorite Things from The Sound of Music. ("Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting...") Besides raffling a gift as usual, Madeline gave three lovely door prizes by asking questions, such as how long have you lived in your house, how many years did you work for a company, and how many years have you been married to the same man? We discovered that we are a very stable group! We ended this lovely lunch with a kazoo serenade for our sweet Fran, who is celebrating her 93rd birthday this month. Thank you, Madeline, for a terrific experience. |
