Photographs from my "Black Satin" series

I have always been an experimenter with my photography. One idea I wanted to develop was to make my images of flowers very dramatic, hovering between being realistic and unrealistic. I tried various techniques, building one upon the other. Success came when one of my flowers took on a luster that reminded me of black satin. And so the "Black Satin" series was born. Other flowers responded in different ways, many of them being more like red or yellow satin.
