December 2007 Queen for the Day Frankie and her two elves, Tammy and Tess, threw a fantastic Christmas party for us on December 1 at the Firewheel Tom Thumb. Tammy is Assistant Store Manager there. She let us use their break room for our party, and she personally baked us a wonderful piƱa colada cake from her family's recipe. The room was decorated beautifully in a gingerbread theme, and Frankie welcomed us wearing a red chef's hat with Christmas trimmings. And this was an opportunity for us to wear our Re-Gals aprons again. After we all found our places at the table, we went to the store deli and ordered our lunches, which we enjoyed together back in the break room. Lunch was followed by the gift exchange. The three hostesses took turns reading a Wright Family Christmas story, and we slid the packages right and left around the tables. We all received beautiful gifts. We sang The Twelve Days of Christmas with each of us singing a different "gift" and then we played games for lovely prizes. Frankie had planned two super crafts for us. First, Tess showed us how to make night lights from glass bricks, Christmas lights and ribbon. We each made a festive decoration for our home. Frankie had hoped we could decorate gingerbread houses, but she couldn't get the kits so we decorated gingerbread people instead. We could choose from four colors of icing and all kinds of candies to embellish our G-men. They all turned out great! At the end of the day, we loaded our goodies into shopping carts and paraded around the store in a line, playing Jingle Bells on our kazoos, followed by a photo op with Santa. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, filled with Christmas joy and good sisterhood. |
