SPEAKING OPPORTUNITIES
SEPT. 24, 2008: CBC RADIO: Invited to be HOUSE GUEST on HOME RUN with Bernie St. Laurent of CBC Radio One. I wasn't sure what I could speak about for 2 hours but Bernard has a knack of making everyone feel so comfortable.
SEPTEMBER 17, 2008: HUDSON ARTISTS ASSOCIATION. Return invited Guest Speaker, I gave a slide show presentation of 240 images entitled: "WINTER IN INDIA, THE IMAGES THAT INSPIRED"
Included a summary of population, literacy, language and religion statistics on India from PLANET INDIA by Mira Kamdar. There were no photos of the Taj Mahal or palaces, just very personal images of everyday life through the eyes and heart of an artist and how these images were transformed into paintings.
It was enriching and energizing to hear what the artists had to say about my work. They appreciated the boldness with color, that each image told a story and that all of the paintings tugged at their emotions.
Always grateful for such feedback because as an artist, being recognized by fellow artists, in whatever manner, can only help us to grow. Merci infiniement !
SEPTEMBER 19, 2007: HUDSON ARTISTS ASSOCIATION. Invited Guest Speaker, I spoke on "CREATIVITY IN THE HEALING PROCESS"
It was a captive audience of 45 members and I was pleased that so many artists found my talk inspiring and uplifting.
The audience moved with me from Asia to Europe to North America as I shared with them personal anecdotes from my sheltered Goan upbringing to the cultural shock of the West, the eventual awakening and acceptance of myself as an accomplished Indian woman artist, the horror and desperation of my recent cancer and the wonder and serenity that remission has brought.
