Inside Hobart Hebrew Congregation.
Both Ruth and Amelie fled Germany and went to France just before the start of WWII. That didn't help them very much since the Germans soon took over France and started to look for Jews. They hid in a small community. Amelie became a maid in a house which harbored her while Ruth joined the underground French forces. This is a view of the Hobart Hebrew Congegation. There isn't any official Rabbi at this synagogue. All the people pitch in in performing the services and any other functions necessary to maintain the synagogue. There were some who wanted to convert to Judaism. They had to go to Melbourne for lessons!
