You must have noticed that the albums are arranged in order, the first ones being the most recent trips and the later ones, year by year, later. We took off from O'Hare International Airport at 9:15 October2, 1999 to arrive at LAX, Los Angeles at noon where we were picked up by our west coast cousins with whom we visited and had two meals before returning to LAX for our 11:00 pm flight to Sydney. The flight to Sydney was fine, but long. It was supposed to take 14 hours. However, arriving close to our destination, we were told that it was too foggy to land at Sydney. The plane continued another hour to Melbourne, refueled, and immediately went back to Sydney where we were finally on the ground 3 hours later than expected, 9:00 am October 4, by our cousins who had been waiting for us. Sydney is 17 hours ahead of our time in Chicago. Our cousins live in the Blue Mountains north of Sydney which is about a 2-2.5 hour drive from the airport. The first several pictures are the ones which I treasure the most and remember the best. The birds in my cousin's back yard, both in color, size and numbers, were truly spectacular. These are Cockatoos.
