Jewish Ghetto of Venice. If I remember correctly, the word getto means iron in Italian. Somehow the h got in there. However, this area used to be an ironworks before it was used to confine Jews. There are very few Jews left in Venice, but there are two synagogues still operating within the ghetto. One operates in the winter because it is heated. The other operates in the summer because it is not heated.
