Brooke Miller's Banana Slug Research From what I can remember of my talk and picture taking with Brooke Miller, who is researching Banana Slugs at UCSC, she and another person at Long Marine Lab are doing the first research since 1945, when Banana Slugs first had their taxonomical classifications done. She collected her Slugs in March of 2002, and then in November some started laying eggs. Her slugs had been kept seperated, so it is likely that they could store sperm for that length of time, or they self fertilized. The next generation, which has no contact with other slugs will tell if this is the case. |
