Reverend Father Andrew J. Forish passed away December 5, 2009 at the age of 92. Father served as assistant pastor at Cyril's from 1942 thru 1947 and became our pastor from 1961 thru 1967. From 1967 thru 1987 Father Forish served as pastor at St. Michael the Archangel until being granted senior priest status in 1987. Father later served as temporary administrator of St. Agatha Parish in Redford Township for several months in late 1989. In quoting Fr. Tindall present pastor at St. Michael the Archangel in Livonia: "Fr. Forish loved sports and would tease the parish staff whenever the Tigers lost stating "Well, I see your Tigers lost last night," but if they won it was, "Did you hear? MY TIGERS won last night" It seems to me, yours truly here that Fr. Forish never lost his sense of humor. According to his housekeeper of 12 years (Dolores Wohlberg), he enjoyed going up to his cabin in Alpena that he and four other priests owned and which they called "The Home for Unwed Fathers." In his retirement Fr. Forish helped out on weekends at St. Colette Parish in Livonia for a number of years before a heart attack, three years later brought on the onset of vascular dememntia. Fr. Forish is resting well with God in heaven, God bless. Posted: 1-24-10
