The first 440 ever to have the preheat button
My 440 is the first to ever have the preheat button. Funny how it started when in 2002 in Thompson MB, Tom Lawrence, Brett Joyce and I were sitting around discussing stutter boxes and how Freddie "supertuner" klies had one setup. Tom's jaw dropped..."I CAN DO THAT WITH THE LAPTOP...Joe get that brainbox out of that sled, i'll be back with the laptop."
Tom come back, hook up the box to laptop and about 20 minutes of playing he got the timing curve to retard on the switch 87 octane. We tested for an hour to get a procedure on Brandon Joyce sled and perfected it. Then got Kuster's box, then a few other doo boxes. Next thing you all the guys are testing this.
Heh, only downside if you messed up the switch procedure, backfire would happen and bust the reed cages. This is the first set. Im glad to be part of some neato history of the rev 440.
