Water Damage From Broken Pipes

On Tuesday 1/16 it was discovered that the pipes had broken at the Jamul property. A claim was immediately filed with the insurance company and I chose to use their preferred vendor "ServiceMaster" to remediate the water damage and ensure that mold and mildew was prevented.

Wed 9pm 31 hours later Servicemaster arrived. They were told the electricirty was secured in that portion of the house, yet had no lights, they surveyed the damage and said it was more than they thought and they would need a bigger crew . They set up fans and defumdifyiers and said they would return on Thursday. They departing at 930pm.

Thurs (50hrs since incident was reported), One guy arrived at 1215 removed most of the wet carpet & padding and left at 230pm. While waiting for them to arrive I removed all the fallen debris and all of the loose and hanging portions of the ceiling in the Family room and Bath.

Friday (72hrs since incident was reported )2 guys arrived at 1300 after cleaning someones carpet. They stated they would finish the job that day (Fri) They were told by the insurance adjuster to remove 3 ft of drywalll etc, they chose not to follow instructions, removed 12" at the bottom of some walls, removed the ceiling in the Family rm , left the soggy ceiling in the laundry rm, soggy carpet in the masterbedroom closet, soggy drywall in the bath etc. When questioned about wet material that was not removed they stated it would dry. They were told someone would be on site at 9am but we could be there as early as they could be there.

Sat at 1100 (96 hours since the incident was reported) They arrived back on site and were fired.

Another contractor was on site at 3pm and had removed most of the damaged drywall before he left for the evening, by Sunday afternoon all of the damaged and wet contents had been removed. Including totally gutting the bathroom & laundry room because the water had penetrated the walls saturating the space between the Outside siding and the internal drywall.
