News from the Seattle Reunion July 13-15 2007 The mini-reunion in the Pacific Northwest began on Wed., July11th, when Susan Lawler and her husband, Taiyo (Skip) Lipscomb (class of 62) drove from the Berkley area to Oregon to stay with us - Dale and Kay It was wonderful to have the time to really visit, catch up and get to know each other even more . Old memories were shared and new ones made! Susan and Taiyo drove the next day through the beautiful Columbia River Gorge and returned to the Rhoneys in time to welcome Greg and Bettee Palmer who drove in from the Lake Tahoe area. It was a perfect evening . sitting out on the deck for dinner, viewing Mt. Hood and enjoying each others company. The group car pooled Friday morning for the 3 hour drive to the Seattle area where we met Paul and Kathy (Bunzell, class of 65) Burton and other 65 classmates of Kathys: Carol OConnor Furman and Francis Tencza. A hospitality suite in the Marriott worked well for Greg to display his memorabilia from Wiesbaden and all to gather to relax, visit and have food and drink Susan had made the best blueberry/ peach bread, Paul brought microbrews, and Kay had local wine for all to enjoy. Janey Ross and Gary Schilling (the newly weds ) joined the group for dinner and it was a wonderful evening!!!! Saturday morning Paul took Dale, Kay, Greg, Bettee and Susan for a 1 ½ hour beautiful walk through the forest and with his great dog, Zigzag Afterwards the group went to see the awe inspiring Snoqualmie Falls. Everyone gathered later at the Burtons for a BBQ of Copper River salmon, chicken, salads etc. The appetizers would have been enough but no one could stop eating as it was so delicious!!! Part of the group watched the DVD: BRATS-Our Journey Home while others enjoyed Paul and Kathys lovely yard and watched Kathys son throw the ball for Ziggy Sunday after breakfast with Paul (on his Harley bike), Susan/Taiyo/Kay drove to Portland and visited Powells Book Store, which is a city block full of used and new books. Susan and Taiyo then started the drive back to California. Greg/Bette/Dale went to a car show in the area. The Rhoneys and Palmers enjoyed one more night of walking, talking, having a lovely dinner on Lake Oswego and making plans for WILLIAMSBURG ..after this great weekend, we are all so looking forward to seeing each other and more classmates and friends in April!!!
