Model variations on a theme by Emett. Models in the style of Emett trains, built by enthusiasts, appeared as early as 1951. I first encountered Rowland Emett due to a 1961 article on an Emett railway in the Railway Modeller. My first line ran in my garden. Alas, no more. Replacing "Friars Ambling to Kings Bedpost", a new portable exhibition layout "St. Torpids Creek" has now travelled on show for twelve years, including to Holland and, in a special lightweight version, to San José in 1998. |
