The Salmon Ladder.
Salmon are born in fresh water, the streams that empty into Lake Washington in the eastern part of Seattle. Lake Union is dammed to keep the seawater in the sea. Lake Union is fresh water and therefor a way for the salmon to get into Lake Union and then to Lake Washington and the streams beyond to breed had to be built.
