Hello my friends! My name is Betty Dekat. Thank you for sharing your time with my picture trail. I am a fiber, folk artist. My passions for creating are with rug hooking, needle punch, tiny stitches, and occasionally sewing up raggedy prairie dolls.
In 1992, I graduated with an Art degree from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. I often say though ~ that I am now teaching myself to forget all I was taught in school. I strive to have my works have the pure-primitive folk art look. the appearance of the untrained-artist.

I am married to my best friend , Tony (who is very handsome too). He is a wonderfully, supportive husband and has given me the opportunity to fulfill my dreams. Together we have three fabulous boys ranging in age from five to twenty-three. Although we live in the country, we are not farmers or ranchers. We do, however have a beautiful wheat field just outside our backdoor. We love the simple, quiet life the Kansas prairie offers us.
