I woke very early in the morning that day. It has been 4 years since I set my foot back home. My village, Kibindu is at a remote corner of Tanzania in the coast region, so I have to start early if have to get there in good time.
I missed the only bus going there so I jumped on a lorry.
Mbwewe is another village where the tarmac road goes through to the northern part of Tanzania. I asked the lorry driver to drop me there. I paid £3 for the many miles drive. Well, now i got to walk the next 32 miles. The road is really bad asit was a rainy season. I had to get there . I had only three days to install a hand water pump. I and my friends and well wishers collected some cash to buy the village.
It was my lucky day. I managed to get someone who owned a pick up truck to ship me a nd other people travelling to Kibindu, fifteen in total. It costed me £15 to hire the truck. That is a fortune! Got there in the evening and my mum was the happiest lady in the world. I started the work on the well the next day and after three days the project was done. CLEAN WATER for all. I also bought some school desks for the village school kids.
