To catch you up......2007 was a long hard year. After reading this you will figure out why I haven't done anything for eBay in the past year or so.
2007 started out fine and I found a way to fulfill my many past New Years resolutions. I quit smoking! After a two month on and off again battle I went to an acupuncurist and have not had a cigarette since. Yep, I gained weight. O'well, saved enough money to buy a much need new and larger wardrobe.
Besides loosing my trim waitline I also lost my ability to paint. Well, almost. A lady asked me to do a portrait of her dog and I accepted because she offered to pay me ahead of time. What should have taken just a week or so took several months. Smoking had become part of the painting proccess and it was very hard to step back, look at the progress of a painting without a cig. That ashtray was always next to my paint. Isn't this a sad comentary!
Spring was a great time. I found someone I can love and this is after being single for 30 years. Wow! We are having a fun relationship. He understands me creative impulses and I understand his motor cycles, cars and the desire to write. All fun and games as we live 4 hours apart.
OK, on to summer. As I do every year, I spent a couple of months in Oregon with my SUPER SENIOR Mother. 91 years old and still living alone. While I was there I had major, major back surgery. It's been an uphill battle since then to bring my body strength back. However, words can't express how great it is not to have that constant back pain. I feel like I have a bunch of stuff in my back, which I do. And I can finally get on with rehab because all that hardware is staying put, exactly where the surgeon put it.
In the fall I made a huge trip back to Portland to make sure the Doctor was happy with my back. Stayed a week with Mom, flew to Minnesota to visit my youngest daughter and her family and then flew home. All and all that was a total of 6 different airplanes in two weeks. I took two pain pills everytime I got on a new plane. Unfortunately I believe all the pain pills cut a hole in my stomach and I landed in the hospital again for 2 pints of blood and a repair job.
After the holidays my very artistic sister sent me some stuff about doll art and her first doll on eBay. What is it about sisters that if one does something the other has to try it also? Thank you Sue, you are a life saver. Now starting the third doll I can see that this can take the place of painting. Since I didn't smoke in the house I have no problem sitting at my sewing machine for many happy hours at a time.
I will soon have my second doll posted and let me tell you.........I'm having a blast. 2008 is going to be a very good year.
