About Me |
I stepped onto an old board belonging to my father when just eighteen months of age. I took the board with me everywhere I went for the next three years. In 1995 I came upon my first quarter pipe at a buddy's house in San Clemente. The rest is history.
Within a few years, I joined the CASL (california amateur skateboarding league) and proceeded to win one state championship after another. I picked up eye wear sponser Arnette, the same company that boasted Tony Hawk on its roster. The team manager at Arnette recognized the connection and offered me Tony Hawks vert ramp. After some minor alterations including a four foot knock down at the demand of the city, I had a mini ramp set up in my own backyard. Which was a dream come true for me.
In 2003, at the encouragement of World Industries, I turned pro at thirteen years of age. I immediatly put an end to any uncertainty of my ability with first place finishes at the Gravity Games, the Vans Triple Crown, Slam City Jam, and the X Games. In fact, my success in the Skateboard Park event made me the youngest participant ever to earn a gold medal at the X Games (13 years of age).
Since turning pro I have dominated the contest circuit, bringing home just about every title there is out there. In 2005, I successfully defended the title as National Street Champion and added World Street Champion to my long list of accomplishments. That same year, I not only took the overall title in skateboard park at the Dew Actions Sports Tour but I also earned the title "Athlete of the Year" by accumulating the most points of any athlete in all disciplines on the tour. In 2006 and 2007 I also claimed the overall AST Dew Tour Title; to this day I'am the undefeated AST Dew Tour Skateboard Park Champion.
In 2007 MTV brought my life to the television screen with my reality show "The Life of Ryan". It was such a sensation that MTV picked up an additional season. I have become a heart throb for girls of all ages around the world. High pitch screams can be heard at every contest, where fans are known to wear t-shirts bearing "Future Mrs. Ryan Sheckler".
At just 18 years old, I turned my name into a franchise. I just started my own merchandising line, Sheckler Merch., which will cater to the skate industry. Along with my brothers I'am creating a foundation of our to be named the Sheckler Family Foundation, which will provide funding and assistance to those in need. Being able to give back to the community is something that I'am very passionate about.
During the minutes and hours in between skate sessions, I spend time enjoying my other passions. I'am an avid fan of motocross, as well as, anything car related. I have an addiction to music, especially rap, heavy metal, and classic rock.
