I've been raising chickens for about 6 years now.. I've had silkies for about 4 years and I just love them! I am also going to be starting to raise Pilgrim and Sebastopol geese - Silver Laced Wyandottes and Mille Fleur d'Uccles! =)

I love Chickens!!:
I had chickens when I was about 5 years old... and when I was 8 we had to sell them due to room and I really wasn't able to care for them properly at that age... haha... when I was 5/6, I would burry eggs in the ground and then water them to see if they would grow... haha... It was quite an adventure. After getting out of them I didn't get back into them until I was the age of 13... I was browsing around online and found these amazing looking chickens called "Silkies". From that day forward I was hooked.... I drew up designs and pens, made a business plan and got to work! haha... I retrieved my first silkie hatching eggs back in 04' and it was quite the challenge learning out to incubate eggs properly. I had my trials and errors to go along with it... but it was such a great experience!! After about 4 months hatching chicks out from various breeders.. I decided I wanted to go for Quality and not Quantity. I pick my birds by the "look" of them... not because they are from exhibition lines or top breeders. I love my birds FLUFFY!! Nice toe spacing, nice heavy foot feathering, correct skin color, nice crests, etc... makes a great bird for me! hehe... I got my first White silkie pair from Jen (Sassy Silkies) - (Pics of those 2 can be found in my silkie photo album). I also got some silkie hatching eggs from Melanie (FlufNStuff) and hatched out some gorgeous babies!! - (pics in the silkie photo album). After browsing around some more I found Shari (Harvest Breeze Farm) and fell in love with bantam cochins! She didn't have any available at that time... so I went and looked for other breeders... my first pair of Blue(hen) and Splash(roo) cochins came from Karl Rau - (You can see pics. of them in my cochin photo album). Since then I have acquired some very nice bantam cochins from Shari! - (pics. of those birds can be seen in my cochin photo album). I can't thank her enough! She has helped me through the trials and errors of my business and educated me a lot... =) Along with Jen and Melanie!! I would not be where I am today without all of your help!! I love you all!! ^.^
