Welcome to JEM Aviary!
I am a small hobby breeder that lives in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. We moved here four years ago from Chicago and have been enjoying the California sunshine ever since.
Since the move I have had more time to enjoy nature and by extension I have started breeding beautiful birds. I started with Lady Gouldian Finches and have expanded to include canaries, quail and grass keets. I take great pleasure in bringing nature into our home and allowing my children to grow and learn and experience things that most do not get to enjoy.
My kids are age 5 and 8, and while they are in school I get to concentrate on my birds and making sure their needs are continually being met on a more full time basis.
My birds live outdoors in large aviaries for maximum flight time. I find this makes for stronger healthier birds. I grow most of the food they eat in my own yard so I know it is organic. Veggies, fruits and eggs are all produced here and so I am very comfortable that what they are eating is the best possible foods available.
I am always available to owners of my birds for questions, as I want to make sure that they are well taken care of and that they have a long healthy life.
