About Me |
I was born and raised in Louisiana and have lived here all my life. I was born in New Orleans but was adoped at the age of 3mos.; raised in Northeast Louisiana. I'm married to a very tall "Yankee Transplant" (6' 7") and this past Sept. 11th we celebrated our 35th Anniversary. We have a daughter who will be 34 in November and she lives in Baton Rouge. ( She was living in New Orleans until Katrina hit.) I'm employed at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and am in my 28th year; I'm due to retire in December 2008 but with the way the economy is right now, not sure if it's gonna happen.
My husband and I love to travel, but don't get to do it often. We have, however, been to Ireland and Italy and would love to go back to both someday

Interests & Hobbies:
WOW!!!!!! Lots under this topic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Water sports have always been a big deal in our family and the family has a lake house where we have enjoyed many years of family fun. I was raised on a farm and have ridden horses since I was 6yrs old! Until recently, I worked on a farm that bred Thoroghbreds and I really enjoyed that.
I love to read, although I don't read as much anymore because I spend most of my time writing. I am a Lifetime Member of the International Society of Poets (since the early 1990's), have written over 100 poems, one of which was published as a greeting card and several others published in anthologies and on tape. I have earned several awards of which I am very proud. I have written a novel which is in the process of being edited for publication.
I am an AVID Backstreet Boys fan, and I have written many fanfiction stories since I joined the groups in 2003. Yes...you read correctly...I'm a Backstreet Boys fan and proud of it!!! I love my extended family that reaches literally around the globe and they call me Mama Dee because I have become the "Mom" of our groups.

TV Shows:
RARELY watch TV, but when I do it's usually The History Channel, or Discovery...or a really good concert on Public Television. I spend my time on the computer. I don't want to waste my brain cells on stupid tv series. |
Favorite Music & Bands:
REPEAT: Backstreet Boys hands down!!!!!!! Given my age, I obviously like just about anything from the 50's, 60's and 70's. You name em', I probably have their RECORDS. I also like jazz (especially New Orleans jazz), Harry Connick, Jr (etc). I like country: Tim McGraw/Faith Hill, Garth Brooks, Alabama, Lone Star...... I love anything Broadway and a "handful" of operas (like Carmen and Aieda)...and "Kill de Wabbit"!!!! (if you didn't see Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd cartoons you have NO CLUE here!!!!) About the only thing I DON'T like is Rap and really heavy metal.

In the 2007 MBSBFC Fan Fiction Awards Season I was nominated and won in five categories:
IRISH EYES won the "Best Group" and 1st Runner Up in the "Creme de la Creme" categories.
OBSESSION won in the "Best Unfinished Novel" category
FOR BETTER OR FOR WORSE won the award for "Best Moment of Revelation"
THE DARE won the "Best Comedy" award

Favorite People You Know:
How do you possibly pick a few people out of a Lifetime!
I would have to say my Mama and Daddy were the best two people I ever knew because they adopted me, gave me their name, their love, and a life I would not have known otherwise. I miss them every day. |
Favorite Celebrities:
That's easy!!!!!! THE BACKSTREET BOYS. Seriously. The guys are truely wonderful, genuine, and loving. Their fans are loyal to them because they have always been loyal, honest, and giving of themselves to their fans. They don't put on false pretenses. They love to mix with and get to know their fans on personal levels. They don't put themselves on pedestals like most rock stars do. They're human and they admit it. My favorite is Kevin (who is no longer with the group). He said so many times: "I don't feel worthy of all this admiration. I just don't get it." I have had the honor of meeting Alex and his mom; and I have met Howie's mom and older sister. I felt as if I were saying hello to old friends. One of these days I will get to meet the rest of them (I hope).
KEVIN retired from the BSB in June 2006, but still remains my favorite. He and wife Kristin wanted to start a family, and on July 3, 2007 little Mason Richardson was born. Kevin is loving his new role as Daddy. In 2003 (Nov-Dec) he played the role of Billy Flynn in the Broadway musical CHICAGO and "wowed" the New York critics!!! He toured with the play across the US that next year and played Canada, London, and Japan as well. Hopefully we will see more of Kevin on Broadway in the future...but also hope to see a solo album by him in the not so distant future. |
Favorite Reads:
JRR TOLKEIN
The Silmarillion; The Hobbit (twice); LOTR Trilogy (twice). Other books relating to the history of the Elves, etc.

I love Historical Fiction Romance novels (of which I have written one). I read mostly KATHLEEN WOODWEIS.

Right now I'm reading THE GREAT DELUGE about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Awesome read.
Another good book: THE PRINCES OF IRELAND: THE DUBLIN SAGA. It's long and tedious and full of history, which I love, but a challenge!!
