This is a little white Lisa hatched from some of my eggs.
Also her email to me.
Congrats Lisa, you did great!

I just wanted to let you know that I have been to 3 poultry shows in the last 6 weeks! Whew, a lot of work! I just wanted to brag to you that a lovely little pullet that I hatched from your eggs last May has set the last 2 poultry shows on fire! I just finished posting her picture on BYC showing her ribbons. She is just beautiful! Did you get to show any this year?

Well, gotta get going. Have a great week!!

Hey, Lydia:

I just want you to know how much I love that Showgirls pair you sent me. Do you have a lot of these? Do you breed and show Showgirls?

Can you tell me more about the age of these two? They seem quite gentle. Did you have them in large cages, were they on the ground, free range, or what? Presently, I have the pair in a very large cage with plenty of room to run about, but the hen seems to be a pacer--she acts as if she wants out. Therefore, I wanted to know a little more about their background, what feed you have been using, etc.

The hen seems quite gentle and seems to enjoy it when I pick her up and give her attention. But she's not laid any eggs for me yet. I feed some Purina feeds, along with some fresh greens, and there ia also grit available for the birds. Did you do anything special for these two?

Lastly, is either (or both) show quality in your opinion, or are they both more or less breeding quality birds instead?

Thanks again for your birds. I simply love them

With appreciation,
Gary Schneider

My Name is Lydia and I raise Silkie and Serama Bantams.

I got started in Silkie around 8 years ago and aquired my line from LaDonna Hart (President of ASBC) of Windrift Ranch.

She has some beautiful birds and I am proud to have some of her line.
Not only did she introduce me to the wonderful world of Silkies but she has also become a great friend.
She helped me thru the learning process of breeding and keeping Silkies. She is a great friend and I will always be thankful for her help. I now have bred her birds and thanks to her I now have my own line of birds.

I also raise Serama's which are also a delight.
Kim Keene got me started by sending me some birds from her line, some of those came from Jerry.
Kim also became a wonderful friend I just wish she did not live so far away.
I also have some Seramas I hatched from Brian Sparks that are just great. Thanks to Brian and Kim I now have my own line of Serama's
The Serama's are so small and so sweet, I just love them.

  My New Incubator
I got a Brower Top Hatch for christmas and so far I love it.
I made the insulation blanket myself rather than spend 33.00 to order one from the company. It is so far holding steady temps and a steady humidity. I will post pics after the hatch.

Update: I have candled for the first time and I have to say....
THE BROWER ROCKS!!!!!! It has kept steady temps, steady humidity and I have lots of babies to look forward to.

Lydia,
I just read your blog on hatching egg info..lol...You really tell it like it should be. You go girl !!
I hope your surgery goes well. I will pray for you.
I'm also excited about getting some hatching eggs from you to blend into my line. I just LOVE your silkies !!
I remember years ago, my very first time I bought hatching eggs and incubated any eggs, was when I bought eggs from you. I had almost a 80 percent hatch rate, my very first time incubating. All the people on the BYC boards could not believe it..haha..beginners luck ?? or just some really great hatching eggs, or both ! I sure got some beautiful silkies out of that batch of eggs. I cant wait to incubate the ones you are sending me. :) I have silkies..but your silkies rock !!
Blessings,
Your Chicken Lovin Friend,
Kim

Lydia, my new Serama hens are doing very well and ended up very tiny. My white Serama rooster is named Moon and he is very tame. Still looking for a solid white hen, but can't find one. I am sending your site to my twin sister, who raises Silkies and just purchased some from Hatricks. I am also now one of the three founding members of the Chantecler Fanciers International club, and am hatching buff chanteclers like crazy because we want to get them accepted into the poultry standard. Lots of work to do to get their combs and wattles up to standard. Let me know if you come across a solid white Serama hen. Love your site - you are a wizard!! Hope all is well in your world and hoping God blesses you greatly this new year!
