About Me |
| I am a fifty-something artist living in one of the nether reaches of the planet (Tasmania). I love making things. I paint, draw, make dolls and sculpture. At the moment, I am working (amongst other things) on a project that entails making something from recyclables, so I am creating a doll from about 90% waste materials. The head, and lower limbs are made from a kind of composition of fine sawdust; the body from recycled flour-bag calico and the filling is wool waste from a blanket manufacturer. I plan to use more recyclables in dressing the doll - more flour bags dyed for a dress, felted old wool jumpers for a jacket, scrap leather for the shoes etc. The first doll is almost complete, so I will post some pictures soon. |

Third last day of 2007 - I have just completed the first recycled doll. I am pretty pleased with how it has turned out!
The pictures are in a new album called 'Redivivus' and now I wish I had taken more step-by-step pictures. I will do so while I am making the next one. |
