About Me |
As a mature student, Margaret Field studied for 2 years at Chesterfield College, and 3 years for a degree in Fine Art Painting & Printmaking BA (Hons) at Sheffield Hallam University England.
In the first two years since gaining her degree, she has mainly focused on building up her reputation by exhibiting in various galleries across the country as far afield as Scarborough in the North, and Aldershot in the South.
She is also a member of two groups of artists, one calling themselves ‘FEMME’ and the other a newly formed duo named “Fran & Marg”.
Previously her work was conceptual involving photography, ready-mades and site-specific work based on her time spent living in London, and also her domestic life.
Drawing from a strong 1960’s heritage her work now focuses on paintings of stars of the 5o’s and 6o’s and London scenes, which are all painted in shadow. These are then combined with interpretations of vintage textile designs, which are added for the backgrounds.
These works have the look of ‘Pop Art’, and are painted in vinyl silk on canvas, in bright colours.
After being introduced to a different kind of artwork by her friend ‘Paintchip” in the USA, her work is now focusing on ACEO/ATC and Altered Art.
“I have always tried to bring joy to the viewer, either with comedy or, as with my latest paintings, brightness of colours. This pattern continues on to my ACEO/Altered Art”. I feel that I have succeeded, as reactions so far have been very good”.
