Hello all... I have put together a few pictures of some of my work. So sit a bit and see just what I've been up too.. Some were from my first efforts at painting and others are things I've just had to try and others and my most favorite thing ,, trash to treasure. I began painting in 2006 and am still learning all the time.
MY father,Glenn Slater ,loved old stuff and this I do in his honor,to preserve his memory. I know he would be proud of me. Also in a tribute to my sweety's departed Mom,, a long time seasoned artist ,Bev Brown.
I look at old stuff and my mind takes over.
I think of the many worn and tired hands that touched or used the object,, and I just know I cannot let it slip out of our time,,,A simple breadbox,, or a cake carrier...Just think of days when your Mom or Grandmother would take a cake to a picnic or outing,, I simply just want us all to remember ,,days gone by.
I know a lot of old items were once used in homes and farms and were very valuable to someone once, long ago.. I believe in preserving the memories of yesteryear ... while creating a new and useful item for the future.
I hope you enjoy this as it grows through the years and becomes old itself in its own time. Also there is a folder dedicated to my dearest friend Linda aka grandma bak bak,,,She will be missed by the many lives she touched. She will always live in my heart as she was a huge factor in making me who I am. That part of her I will always carry with me.
Now grab the coffee,,sit back for just a few minutes! Take a trip thru days gone by...
